In September 2021, Brad and Kristi retired from their careers at ages 53 and 43. They sold everything they owned in 90-days, moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and are already enjoying new adventures as they travel the world.
A Harvard Law graduate, Brad enjoyed 28 years as a successful attorney, the last 5 years serving as a Senior Executive Officer for one of the largest Native American tribes in the US. Whether in private practice or supporting a tribe of 200,000+ members, Brad’s most rewarding career moments were those in which he helped people who had lost all hope.
Kristi spent the bulk of her career in the HR space. Ultimately, she found herself leading an IT team tasked with implementing industry-leading HR and Finance software systems for a large organization. The successful implementation of those systems was the pinnacle of Kristi’s career. Still, her favorite part was organizing and motivating such a high-caliber team.
Brad and Kristi have an amazing son, Bo, who enjoys their “permanent vacation” by visiting when his schedule allows. With any luck, Bo will occasionally share his perspective on Hola Teddy.
Last but not least, Brad and Kristi answer to a 4-pound, longhaired chihuahua named Teddy Bear, for whom this blog is the namesake. When Teddy is not sleeping, he can be found bossing Brad and Kristi around every step of the way!
Update as of April 7, 2022:
Brad and Kristi purchased a beautiful condo in the Amapas neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta. This provides the perfect inspiration for posts about retiring in Mexico and the many challenges related to owning a home in Mexico. Of course, they still enjoy being “tourists” in their new city. Even though they vacationed in PV for many years, there are still plenty of things on their to-do list.
