Best Pizza in Puerto Vallarta is a very popular topic! Below you will find our Top 5 pizza places in Puerto Vallarta. As always, we are brutally honest! These are places we eat at all the time, so you can count on them to be great.
Puerto Vallarta is well known for having excellent restaurants. Pizza in Puerto Vallarta is no exception. I’ve heard people say crazy things like, “I don’t go to Mexico to eat pizza.” My response is to run away from those folks as quickly as possible. No one needs that kind of negativity!
Finding great pizza is one of my favorite quests when traveling. Believe me when I say thousands of calories worth of research went into this post. No need to thank me. It is a delicious sacrifice I am willing to make! Seriously, though, if you love pizza and are traveling to Puerto Vallarta, this guide will save you a ton of time (not to mention ensure you have an AMAZING meal at one of the best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta).
La Notte is only a block away from our favorite taqueria. It is tucked in a nondescript, quite modest looking storefront. Once inside, we were seated in a small but charming courtyard where a wood-fired pizza oven quickly churned out pizzas. It is really fun to watch them shovel the pizzas in and out of the oven.
About the Pizza: Wood-fired, brick oven pizza. One pizza serves two people with smaller appetites. Our pizza was a bit soggy, which could easily be remedied if you request light sauce. Typically, I don’t recommend a restaurant if the pizza is soggy, but the ingredients were fresh and delicious. It was also perfectly cooked. This is definitely the best option for good pizza in Cinco de Diciembre.
Location: C. Honduras 115, 5 de Diciembre, 48350 Puerto Vallarta, Jal., Mexico
Vibe: casual, cozy
Accepts Credit Cards: Yes
Dog Friendly: Yes
Special Diets Accommodated: No gluten free crust option listed on the menu.
Note: Closed Monday & Tuesday
Florio’s is a tiny little restaurant located in the popular residential neighborhood of Versailles. The food is fresh and servers are attentive. There are about 5 small tables inside the air-conditioned restaurant and another 4 or 5 tables on the sidewalk outside. Florio’s is off the beaten path a bit, so expect to see mostly locals (many of which are ex-pats living in the more affordable Versailles area). This place has a great vibe. It feels more like a hole in the wall in Italy, not Mexico.
About the Pizza: Brick oven pizza. One pizza serves two people with smaller appetites and is quite tasty. It can be a bit cheesy for my taste, which is what most people prefer. It’s hard to beat their light sourdough crust, cooked perfectly in their wood fired oven.
Location: Hamburgo 167, 48310 Puerto Vallarta, Jal., Mexico
Vibe: casual, cozy
Accepts Credit Cards: Yes
Dog Friendly: Yes
Special Diets Accommodated: No gluten free crust option listed on the menu.
Note: Closed Monday
Brewhaus is a new neighborhood cerveceria in the Fluvial neighborhood in Puerto Vallarta. We like to stop by on our way to Costco. After all, one needs sustenance to survive Costco’s crazy long checkout lines! Brewhaus is such a cool restaurant/bar. It totally looks like a place you would find in Brooklyn. Servers are attentive and the food is delish! We would dine here weekly if there was a Brewhaus location closer to our condo (fingers crossed they’ll open a Romantic Zone location!).
About the Pizza: Thin crust, brick oven pizza. The topping amounts are just right and the crust is spot on. We love this pizza!
Location: Lago Huron, Av Fluvial Vallarta 113, 48312 Puerto Vallarta, Jal., Mexico
Vibe: casual, hipster, great tvs for watching sporting events
Accepts Credit Cards: Yes
Dog Friendly: Yes
Special Diets Accommodated: No gluten free crust option listed on the menu.
Note: Open Daily at 3:00pm
As much as we try not to duplicate the same establishment on multiple “best of lists”, Americana Sports Bar deserves this spot. Read more about Americana on our 10 Best Sports Bars in Puerto Vallarta list.
About the Pizza: Puerto Vallarta’s original deep dish pizza comes in two sizes, 10 inch and 12 inch. We ordered the 12 inch pizza and fed several people. This is Chicago style pizza, so be prepared for it to take 45 minutes or more to cook. They have tons of great appetizers, plenty of entertainment, and great drinks, so the wait is half the fun!
Location: C. Mina 178, Proyecto escola, Centro, 48300 Puerto Vallarta, Jal.
Vibe: sports bar by the beach
Accepts Credit Cards: Yes
Dog Friendly: Yes
Special Diets Accommodated: Yes, but probably not for the pizza. That crust has to stand up to TONS of weight from the toppings
This is it, folks. The best pizza in Puerto Vallarta – hands down!
The food at L’angolo di Napoli is incredible and truly authentic. The owners hail from Naples – Italy, not Florida. They learned to cook in their nonna’s kitchens, and Puerto Vallarta is all the better for it.
The location, while a little gritty, just adds to the authenticity. If you’ve been to Naples, you know what I’m talking about! The restaurant is located on a busy thoroughfare where life is passing by right in front of you. The chef sings to the top of his lungs, and the people watching is top notch!
If you are looking for an ocean view, violins, and other such fanciness, this is not your place. If you are looking for the best darn pizza in Puerto Vallarta, you have arrived!
About the Pizza: Authentic, Neapolitan pizza cooked perfectly in a brick oven. One pizza serves two people with smaller appetites. Diners can get regular cheese or upgrade to fresh mozzarella. Trust me, you deserve the fresh mozzarella. It’s SO good!
Location: L´Angolo di Napoli, Morelos 128, Centro, 48300 Puerto Vallarta, Jal.
Vibe: casual dive, hidden gem
Accepts Credit Cards: Yes
Dog Friendly: Yes
Special Diets Accommodated: Yes. Gluten free pizza dough is available. Reserve yours a day in advance to ensure they have enough. Vegan and vegetarian items are also on the menu.
Note: Closed Mondays
In 2022, we claimed Los Muertos Brewing could easily be in first place for consistently great pizza. Unfortunately, the pizza has been more miss than hit the last 5 or 6 times we’ve been there. This is a HUGE disappointment, as we have been faithful patrons of Los Muertos for many years (long before we moved to PV). We still like the place, but we order burgers, wings, and fries when we go now.
From the original post: Craft beer is a big part of their business, but pizza is definitely at the heart of what they do. Los Muertos also has incredible prices. They have a daily lunch special from opening time until 5:00pm. Lunch special includes 1 slice of pizza, a salad OR French fries, and a beer OR soft drink – for around $5 USD. Their full-size pizzas start at about $10 USD. Side note: I know this post is about pizza, but you HAVE to try their fries. They are hands down the best in Puerto Vallarta.
About the Pizza: New York style pizza, so they have thin crust and are pretty large. One pizza will feed at least 3 people (4 if you get an appetizer). Never soggy. Note: It’s been pretty soggy and borderline undercooked lately. Not sure what’s going on with them.
Location: Lázaro Cárdenas 302, Emiliano Zapata, 48380 Puerto Vallarta, Jal.
They also have a second location in Versailles at Av. Francisco Villa 524, Olímpica, 48310 Puerto Vallarta, Jal., Mexico.
Vibe: casual, fun music, several televisions showing sports
Accepts Credit Cards: Yes
Dog Friendly: Yes, but only specific tables in the restaurant.
Special Diets Accommodated: No gluten free crust option listed on the menu.
Note: Open daily from 11:00am to midnight. They did not close at all last summer (when most restaurants closed for repairs or vacation).
In a city with literally hundreds of incredible restaurants, it stands to reason that we would have fantastic pizza. While there are dozens of other pizza places in PV that aren’t listed, these are the places you can count on to have the best pizza in Puerto Vallarta. Who knows? Maybe someday we’ll find a condo-friendly pizza oven, and I can make pizza as I did once upon a time in my backyard!
